Batting dominates in division four

-

Daniel Simons was the aggressor, striking 12 fours and two sixes before holing out on 73.

A couple of quick wickets gave the Jumping Jacks a brief respite before Brian McDonald and Daniel Sell joined forces to put on 110 for the fifth wicket.

Sell (who has been consistent all year) top scored for the home side, notching up a boundary laden 80.

McDonald (63) fell a short time later and despite some minor resistance from the tail the home side were forced to bowl eight overs before stumps.

On a day that favoured the batting side there was a beacon of hope for the visitor as they unleashed their secret weapon in the form of Brad Gnaden.

Coming on as the sixth bowler, Gnaden tore through the top order before finishing with career best figures of 5/66.

Michael Buzasi provided good support with 3/77.

Hawks bounce back

Drouin 10/217 vs Iona 0/18 Drouin has bounced back after a horror outing in the last round to post a defendable total against Iona.

Handy cameos from the lower order helped Drouin to bat late into the afternoon before being dismissed in the 62nd over.

\Muhammad Sohaib (3/72) did the early work with the new ball along with a typically lengthy spell from Sam Accardi who snared 3/72 off 27 overs.

Michael Scully cleaned up late to be the pick of the bowlers with 4/40 off 15 overs.

Jindivick Black defeated Ellinbank by forfeit.
