Pressure on in triathlon races
With only three junior and five seniors triathlons left in the 2018 - 2019 season, the pressure is on for the championship points which accumulate over the seasons racing.
In the Wild Dog Triathlon juniors event on Saturday, the club saw the debut of its youngest competitor Olivia Thompson.
Olivia is following in the foot steps of her father Niall's, who has a long term triathlon career and is yet again in training for the Port Macquarie - Ironman in May with several other member of the club.
Olivia completed her first splash and dash (one lap swim and one lap run), demonstrating that triathlon's are fun for all ages.
The WDTC juniors six laps was won by Isabel Oswald, who set a new personal best this week and is looking strong to challenge for the club championship.
Andrew Thompson took out first in the five laps. Being a consistent weekly competitor he is in strong contention for the championship medal for this event. Isabelle Nash took first in the four laps, Troy Oswald is holding a strong lead as contender for club champion in three laps, and Charlotte McKenna continues to show her enthusiasm to compete in the in the juniors one lap.
Wild Dog seniors race welcomed some new comers for the season, as well as seeing the return of previous members racing for the first time this season.
A strong field in the long event saw Paul Taylor (1:00:13) holding out against some very determined competition.
Molly Irvine (44:30:19) was looking comfortable in the short event to take out first and Mark Ferguson (26:29:11) put in an excellent swim in the fun event.
