Club champions celebrated

The excitement of the Herald Sun Tour stage finishing in Warragul continued when Warragul Cycling Club held its presentati­on night recently.

Winners of the 2018 club championsh­ip medals were presented and a fantastic social gathering by club members past and current was held, with plenty of discussion of all things cycling occurred.

Open gold winners were Shane Stiles (road), Brett Rollinson (time trial), Brett Kennedy (criterium), Connor Bagot (hill climb).

Connor Bagot and Shane Stiles each also picked up a silver medal in road and criterium racing respective­ly. Paul Yeatman picked up silver in the time trial.

Open bronze medallists were Tex Walker (road), Simon Baxter (time trial) and Tom Reid (criterium).

Tex Walker picked up gold on the road in M123 class. Other M123 gold medallists were Brett Rollinson (time trial) and Matt Parkinson (criterium).

Simon Baxter and Paul Yeatman also placed in the class, with Baxter collecting a silver in the time trial and bronze on the road while Yeatman picked up silver in the criterium.

Peter MacDonald was bronze medallist in the criterium.

Shane Stiles picked up a second gold medal on the road in the M456 class. Paul Yeatman (time trial) and George Tambassis (criterium) were other gold medallists.

Rob Monk placed second on the road and third in the criterium. Peter MacDonald (time trial) and Ross Henry (criterium) were other silver medallists, while John Taylor finished third in time trial.

Col Brown won gold in the M7+ road while Annie Pryjmak collected gold in the women’s criterium.

The Warragul Cycling Club has one of the best cycling facilities in the state; holds regular local racing and includes an active junior track cycling program.

WCC are also event organisers and hosts of the annual Baw Baw Cycling Classic, which is an official Victorian Racing Series event.
