Broadbent delivers lighting for tennis and netball in Baw Baw
The Trafalgar, Neerim South and Buln Buln Recreation Reserves will benefit from a $160,000 grant as part of the Commonwealth Government’s Community Sports Infrastructure Grants. Federal Member, Russell Broadbent visited the Trafalgar Recreation Reserve with Baw Baw Shire Councillors and Mayor as well as sporting group representatives to make the announcement and said the grant will go towards the installation of court lights for all three reserves. “New light towers will be installed at the Trafalgar Recreation Reserve netball courts, while the dual use courts for tennis and netball at the Buln Buln and Neerim South Recreation Reserves will also receive new towers. “Sports hold such an integral place within Australian society and improving facilities will help to improve engagement and participation levels for users of these three reserves. “Providing our netballers and tennis players with high quality lighting will assist their nightly training sessions and allow the possibility of night matches in the future. Baw Baw Shire Council Mayor, Mikaela Power welcomed news of the funding that will soon boost safety, participation and player satisfaction in tennis and netball throughout our shire. “This funding will help Council deliver better sporting facilities for our local clubs and we thank Russell and the Federal Government for their continued support and investment into grassroots sporting infrastructure. The project is a part of the Baw Baw Shire’s Brighter Baw Baw program and the Shire is contributing $130,000 to the project.
