Holland bags 10 in career high
An exhibition by Longwarry’s Tye Holland was one of the few things to excite spectators when the Crows took on Lang Lang at Lang Lang on Saturday.
Holland, a former league best and fairest winner, kicked a career high 10 goals as the Crows pummelled a hapless Lang Lang by 124 points. Final scores were 21-18 to 2-8. On-baller Holland spent plenty of time in attack as the ball spent most of the afternoon in Longwarry forward half of the ground.
And as well as his bag of goals he seemed to win possessions at will in a best on the ground showing.
Originally from Longwarry Holland returned this year after several years with Warragul Industrials.
Lang Lang’s only goals came in the last quarter through Tom Mitchell and its best player on the day Luke Collie. Longwarry’s start was relatively slow. Three goals in the first quarter and another three in the second.
After then, and despite the slippery conditions resulting from rain, it was something of a Crows goal feast.
They rammed through seven in the third quarter and another eight in the last.
There were a few partners in crime to Holland in the forward line.
Former Warragul player Jedd Serong helped himself to four goals, Nathan Fry and Riley Rundell each bagged a couple and Russell Lehman, Braydon McHugh and Daniel Fry also hit the scoresheet.
As well as Holland with his dominance Longwarry had many stand-out players, Lehman, Nathan Fry, Nick Walsh, Nicholas Redley and Cory Lenders heading the list.
Collie was clearly best for Lang Lang that has few that won their positions or broke even.
But Lachlan Barwick, Will McGindle, Brock Duggan and Travis Kitchin were commendable in a side that was out of its depth against a team that sits on top of the ladder and is the only one that is still undefeated after four rounds.
