Make seat line ball

-

For years, the people of West Gippsland have had little to show for their votes cast in both federal and state elections.

This is not because the people who have been elected are not dedicated and honourable. It is simply because the electorates of Narracan and Monash are overlooked by the party machines that have a say in the allocation of funds.

While other electorates that are marginal get the visits by leaders, either trying to win or sandbag seats, we rarely see them.

There are no promises made to win our votes, no big infrastructure spends like the ones offered to other electorates. Our area is one of the quickest expanding ones in rural Victoria, but not in the eyes of the politicians.

It seems those politicians with the loudest voices and slimmest margins get the attention and the money; despite the two major parties both promising that they treat everyone equally and fairly. Where is the fairness when pork barrelling takes precedence?

The only thing the people of West Gippsland voting in elections can do is to try to make their seat marginal or not have long term sitting members.

Bricks by the truck load to the politicians who have not done enough to get our new Warragul hospital underway. The Band aid patch up works that they’re currently doing is just that - a patch up. It is stopping day surgeries due to the ongoing construction works.

A urology surgeon has cancelled operations due to these works with short notice to the patients.

A big thanks to the two motorists that stopped to see if I was alright after sliding out on road debris and crashing my push bike on Waterloo Road, East of Trafalgar on Tuesday evening.

When there is so much intolerance towards cyclists these days, it is nice to see that there are still some caring and helpful motorists out there on the road.

A big bouquet and thank you to Albertos Pizza, Warragul for excellent service and willingness to go the extra mile (no pun intended) to ensure some large pre ordered deliveries arrived on time. Your reliability and excellent customer service made the whole process easy and stress free.

A big brick to a motorist at the South Rd lights and then in South Rd for your behaviour on Thursday at about 5pm. Yes the motorist in front of you was undecided which lane to go into but your reaction was appalling.

It was bad enough to lay your hand on the horn but to continue your rage along South Rd and then cut that driver off beggars belief. We all make mistakes on the road sometimes it is tolerance which keeps us safe.
