West Gippy turn on tap
Ellinbank and District Football League’s under 18 interleague side suffered a 142point loss at the hands of West Gippsland Football Netball Competition’s best men at Yarragon on Saturday.
The two sides were individually consistent across all four quarters but ultimately mismatched. Lack of accuracy hurt the EDFL side early, with only four behinds by the end of the first. WGFNC meanwhile had kicked six goals three.
By the second term, it was plain to see that the WGFNC had turned on the tap and were going to leave it running. An insurmountable 67 points separated the two sides by the time they entered the main break. EDFNL had kicked just two goals. WGFNC had kept their first term form and had kicked seven.
The third term saw WGFNC continue to keep the ball in their 50 and out of the hands of the EDFL’s top men. WGFNC added three goals six as their side of the scoreboard hit triple figures. EDFNL added two majors and five behinds, bringing them to a measly 4.93, compared to 16.11.107 from their opponents.
The EDFL ended the final term with an extra 13 points. WGFNC had added 41. WGFNC had more than comfortably accounted for the Ellinbank League 22.16.148 to 6.10.46.
