The meeting this month was held at the home of secretary Janet due to the renovation work being done on CWA House.

The meeting was attended by eight members and we welcomed new member Di Harrison.

The past month has seen members attend many events including the 80th birthday for the Drouin branch, the opening of the CW. gardens at Neerim South as well as catering for Fairview. Members made muffins, slices, sandwiches & fruit platters for Fairview.

President Gwen Dale laid a wreath at the Warragul ANZAC day service on behalf of past & present members.

Renovation work is in full progressin­g at CWA house in Victoria Street. Members are eager to see the new kitchen complete with a stove, disabled access for the toilets and many other changes thanks to the grant received from the LaTrobe Valley Authority.

Internatio­nal Officer Dona tempted members’ taste buds with descriptio­ns of culinary “delights” that are traditiona­l foods of Iceland.

They included: hardfiskur: Dried fish jerky served with butter as a snack, brennivin: fermented grain or potato mashed with caraway, kiotsupa: meat soup made with the tougher cuts of lamb with Icelandic herbs and vegetables, svid: sheep’s head cheeks smoked, skyr: iconic yoghurt with different flavours. Iceland has over 300 variety of fish in their surroundin­g Ocean.

The meeting closed and Janet demonstrat­ed making blueberry muffins that were egg free. Everyone enjoyed a hot muffin straight from the oven with a cuppa.

The next meeting will be held at the home of president Gwen Dale. 6.30pm for 7pm start.

The competitio­n for June is a novelty cake of soap. Craft is beading a milk jug cover. BYO doylies, beads and thread.

The craft shop in the UMart (Old Sam’s Warehouse) complex has a good selection of beads and the bloom is a flowering bulb.
