Fundraiser for Janina

-

A fundraising and social night is being held to support the ongoing recovery of Garfield’s Janina Kletke.

Janina responded to a call for assistance to relocate horses from a Garfield North property during the March Bunyip Complex fires.

During her act of kindness helping a complete stranger, an accident left her with a major acquired brain injury.

After being rushed to The Alfred Hospital, Janina was placed into an induced coma for three weeks. Following a further two week stay in hospital, she was relocated to a rehabilitation facility.

Through sheer determination, Janina has defied her doctors’ expectations and is now a rehabilitation outpatient.

Janina has continued to defy the odds in her recovery through her strength of character and hard work.

For Janina this most importantly means she is spending her nights at home with her partner Ash Seing and her beloved animals.

However, there is still a long road to recovery for Janina. She has suffered some significant and potentially permanent impairments, which affect her ability to be independent and earn an income.

Janina is a German Bereiter (horse breaker) and is well known on the Australian dressage circuit.

To support her ongoing journey and to thank everyone who has been part of her journey so far, particularly the Alfred Foundation, A Night for Janina will be held on Friday, August 9.

The night will raise much needed funds for Janina’s continuing and substantial rehabilitation costs and will help cover her living expenses while she is unable to work.

A Night for Janina will be held at the Pakenham Racing Club at Tynong from 6pm.

Guest speaker will be former Victorian homicide detective Charlie Bezzina.

Tickets are $110 and include a two course dinner, beer, wine and soft drinks.

The night will include live and silent auctions, table draws and raffles.

Anyone wanting to contribute to the auction can contact Ash (0417 351 216).
