Nyora takes emphatic win over Lang Lang

-

It was an emphatic win for Nyora against Lang Lang at Lang Lang on Saturday. The Saints won by 37 points -- 8.5-53 to 14.490.

The first term ended evenly for the two sides. Nyora was one point in front but almost matched the Tigers' accuracy with two majors and three behinds compared to Lang Lang's two majors and two behinds.

The Tiger train began to wobble in the second term. Lang Lang put another three goals on the scoreboard but it was no match for Nyora's four majors which brought the margin to 13 points at the main break.

But the third term was when the Tiger train well and truly fell off the rails. Nyora booted five goals two.

Lang Lang mustered just two behinds in reply. By the end of the quarter Nyora had extended their lead to 43 points.

The final term could have been an opportunity for Nyora to consolidate their lead, but it ended up seeing a valiant effort from the home side to regain a foothold in the match.

By the final whistle the Tigers had added three goals one.

But it was not enough to overcome Nyora who finished the quarter with an additional two majors one, bringing their final scoreline to 90. Lang Lang finished with 53 points. Best on ground for the winning side went to

Ben Schultz, who put his boot to seven goals. Dylan Heylen, Sam Burns, Tim Burns, Jesse Heylen and Lachlan Fievez were also influential.

For the Tigers, best on ground went to the ever-present James Vela. He was backed up by the efforts of Thomas Mitchell, Aaron Rose, Jake Dwyer and Andrew Thompson.

The result does Lang Lang no favours. They are neck and neck with Nilma Darnum in the race to receive the wooden spoon. Both sides have just one win each on the board.

The Tigers stay at ninth after Saturday and the Saints stay in fourth. Nyora play Buln Buln in round 10 on the weekend, playing at Buln Buln. Lang Lang will host Ellinbank.
