Annual eisteddfod gets underway

Enjoy the next generation of musical and acting talent as the West Gippsland Performing Arts Competitio­n gets underway in Warragul.

Opening over the weekend, the competitio­n – previously known the West Gippsland Music and Drama Eisteddfod - caters for performers of all ages and abilities.

This week will see pianoforte on offer at the Warragul Community Church on Thursday and Friday and St Paul’s Anglican Grammar School on Saturday and Sunday.

The instrument­al ensembles and rock bands will follow on Thursday, August 1 and choral contest on Friday, August 2, both at the West Gippsland Arts Centre.

Speech and drama will take centre stage at St Paul’s Anglican Grammar School on Saturday, August 3 and Sunday, August 4.

Now in its eighth year, the joyous Gippsland Parasteddf­od for people with a disability will be at the West Gippsland Arts Centre on Monday, August 5.

Be amazed as the contempora­ry popular vocalists perform on Saturday, August 10 and Sunday, August 11 at Marist Sion College followed by classical vocalists from Friday, August 16 to Sunday, August 18 at Warragul Uniting Church.

Admission for one session is just $5 for adults and $3 for students and concession card holders. Children under 12 are admitted free.
