School parking petition Restoration workshop
The Drouin Primary School community has petitioned Baw Baw Shire Council to do something about car parking for drop-off and pickups of students.
Signed by 201 school community members, the petition points to the growth in student numbers at the school and an expansion of the co-located Early Learning Centre later this year.
The petitioners say the need is now desperate and previous contacts with the shire to plan for more parking spaces have fallen on deaf ears.
They point out that numbers attending the primary school have increased by almost 150 per cent – from 210 to 500 – since 2013.
“Most of the time parents and carers are struggling to drop off or pick up children in a safe and orderly manner”.
We hope that as a result of the petition you (council) will realise the difficulties we face, the petitioners stated.
The petition was presented by Cr Jessica O’Donnell who said it was supported by the Drouin School Council.
Cr O’Donnell successfully moved that a report be prepared for council no more than four (regular) meetings ahead and that the Education Department be notified of the petition.
