Philatelic Society
The last meeting of Warragul Philatelic Society on June 12 was well attended, with lively discussion about coming events, and tidying up from the stamp fair.
It was pleasing that many members have renewed their membership, as this was due at the start of the month.
This is important to remain on the circuit books list, as only financial members are covered by insurance.
Brian reminded members to keep the circuit books moving, to allow all members quick access.
Due to the Bendigo trip, the annual general meeting will be held on August 2, a week early; members are reminded to please bring a plate to share.
Members will travel up and back on the Bendigo trip, meaning an early start (6am) at the Warragul Train Station on Saturday August 10. A later trip is planned for October 12 and 13, to include Geelong and Ballarat.
Keeping busy, we are planning another auction in Warragul on Saturday October 27, all lots to be handed to John R on or before August 2 with no late acceptances, as it involves a lot of work.
Several interesting stamp oddities were shown around the group, always a very interesting and informative time.
Nominations for office bearers were then taken, to be voted on at the AGM.
The competition for this month was tigers, with a varied set of displays. Winner was Felix, with four legged animals-tigers, second Jeanette with tigers, and third Brian with which tiger. Well done, all attracted considerable attention and comment.
Next month’s competition stamps.
