Sea Eagles fly to big victory

The big scoring continued for the Sea Eagles in the second half. Inverloch Kongwak kicked one more goal in the third term. The Panthers kicked one more behind.

The final quarter saw the Panthers add just one more major score to finish the day on 2.214.

Kilcunda Bass added another four goals in the final term. They finished the match on 16.12-108.

Callum Beattie-Powell was best on ground with four majors to his name. He was backed up by the efforts of Oscar Toussaint, Adam Cross, Sam Gibbins, Dylan Clarke and Jarvis Pryor.

Cora Lynn brought down Warragul Industrial­s by 113 points on Saturday – 23.17-155 to 6.6-42 was the margin.

Cora Lynn had a strong opening quarter, kicking six goals five in to Dusties’ two goals two. The second term saw Warragul continue to struggle, adding just two majors to their tally.

Cora Lynn doubled their first quarter scoreline, putting another six goals on the scoreboard. The Cobras led the scoring by 54 points at halftime.

Cora Lynn hit the 100-point mark in the third, booting three goals and five behinds. Dusties managed to slot another major and a minor score and entered the final quarter 69 points down.

Another major score went to the Dusties in the final term and they finished the day on 6.642.

But it was Cora Lynn who won they day, finishing on 23.17-155. Nathan Langley was best on ground for the victors. He was backed up by Nathan Gardiner, Hayden Briggs, Jai Rout, Troy Tharle and Jackson Dalton.

Garfield overcame their visitors on Saturday, Daylston going down to the Stars by 75 points – 97 to 22. The Stars led early, kicking three goals three in the first.

Daylston managed three behinds in that first term. They had their first major score in the second term and also added another four behinds.

The home side was way out in front by that time, kicking another two goals and entering the main break up by 23 points, 36 to 13.

The Stars almost doubled that score in the third term, managing four goals one to bring their lead to 42 points after Daylston kicked just one more major.

The final term saw the margin grow even further. The Stars finished the day 14.13-97 to 2.1022.

Best on ground for the victors was Thomas Fitzpatric­k, Tanner Stanton, Jayden Goumas, Nicholas Macente, James McKellar and Josh Evans also made important contributi­ons.

Koo Wee Rup got up against Bunyip on Saturday, winning 10.11-71 to 5.7-37.

Bunyip had the momentum in the first term and had almost doubled the home side’s score by the end of the quarter with two clean majors to one goal one behind.

But all that changed in the second term, with Koo Wee Rup finding their groove and hosting a scoring masterclas­s, adding a quick five goals five to their tally and keeping Bunyip to just two more behinds.

The Demons led the Bulldogs by 28 points at the main break. That margin grew in the third with the Bulldogs managing just two behinds to the home side’s two majors.

The final term saw Koo Wee Rup add another two goals to their tally, bringing their fulltime scoreline to 10.11-71.

Bunyip finished the day on 5.7-37. Rory Connelly was best on ground for Koo Wee Rup. Matthew Voss, Liam Hetheringt­on, Bradley Harding, Luke McMaster and Caleb Milojevic also received honourable mentions.

Nar Nar Goon took the chocolates in their match-up with Korumburra-Bena on Saturday. The Giants went down 6.9-45 to 14.12-96.

It was a war of attrition in the first term. Both sides kicked three goals two. But the Goons took control in the second term and made their presence clear and the margin grew to 16 points at halftime.

Nar Nar Goon maintained their intensity in the third and did not concede any ground, although they failed to make up ground to close the margin.

The final term saw the Goons run away with the ball, adding five majors to their tally and keeping the Giants scoreless.

The day finished 14.12-96 to 6.9-45. Jake Blackwood was best on ground for Nar Nar Goon. Lachlan Hansen, Mat Slattery, Daniel Mason, Mitch Virtue and Toby Sherer were also influentia­l.

The closest game of the round was TooradinDa­lmore’s match up with Phillip Island. The Bulldogs prevailed by just two points – 14.5-89 to 13.13-91.

Tooradin-Dalmore grabbed the lead early, opening the first term with a clean seven goals. Phillip Island’s score at that point was a little over half that.

They had kicked four goals five. But the margin narrowed in the second quarter. The Bulldogs kicked three majors to come within 10 points of the lead.

Tooradin-Dalmore were still in front at the main break after adding two goals three to their tally.

The margin grew slightly in the third term with Phillip Island kicking three goals to Tooradin’s two majors. 11 points was the margin at the start of the final term and Phillip Island had the momentum.

They booted four majors and three behinds to bring their tally to 13.13-91 for the day.

Tooradin-Dalmore fell just short, ending the day on 14.5-89. Best on ground for the victors was Hayden Bruce, Cameron Pedersen, Brenden Kimber, Keith Robinson, Jaymie Youle and Mark Griffin also made important contributi­ons.
