Ellinbank convincing

Ellinbank once again steamrolle­d the opponents in the EDFL under 18s competitio­n on Saturday.

The Eagles overcame the Saints by 108 points, Nyora going down 17.14-116 to 1.2-8.

The Eagles found their place on the scoreboard early, kicking 30 points in the first term while Nyora kicked just one major.

A minor score came for the Saints in the second, nothing in third and one more behind in the final term.

Ellinbank added significan­t scoring ground at every opportunit­y, blasting through the 100point mark at the end of the third term.

Longwarry held out Buln Buln to win their match-up at home.

The Crows finished the first term on almost double the Lyrebirds’ score. At halftime they sat on 38 points while the Lyrebirds were on 15. That margin continued to grow in the third term.

The match finished with a Crows victory. Longwarry took home the chocolates by 31 points - 3.8-26 to 8.9-57.

Neerim Neerim South overcame their round 16 opponents, defeating Nilma Darnum by 33 points — 11.9-75 to 5.12-42. The two sides were neck-and-neck at the end of the first term, but the Cats gained control in the second, entering the main break with a solid 19-point lead.

The Bombers could not quite make up the deficit in the third or in the fourth term, despite adding another four goals in the second half.

The Cats kicked seven majors in the second half and finished the day on 11.9-75.
