Warragul wins hearts of Krawczyk family

-

With a VIP brunch on offer as a prize, Warragul Farmers Market last week called on its social media followers to say why they love the market.

The post attracted a lot of responses and organisers randomly selected Rebecca Krawczyk’s response. Rebecca then attended Saturday’s market for her brunch experience with a group of friends.

Rebecca’s detailed response explained why they moved from Melbourne and what they loved about the market.

Faced with Melbourne’s rising house prices and lifestyle choices, Rebecca and her family considered a move to Warragul after a friend from her mother’s group had relocated to Warragul – “a place I’d never heard of, let alone been to.”

“One afternoon we headed out for a visit. The rolling hills and breathtaking views of Gippsland certainly had us intrigued.

“We decided to go for a bit of a detour on the way home from our visit and go through the town. That’s when we saw the sign Warragul Farmers Market.

“The arts, the produce, the music, the family friendly activities and Civic Park playground had us hooked.

“That day we fell in love with a piece of Warragul. On the way home we took a tour of the town again...this time looking at the estates and land available.

“When we went home and discussed it with friends and family their initial thoughts were “it’s too far. You’d have no jobs. No family support. Why would you want to go out there?”

While those opinions put them off initially, they continued to visit the market every month and wondering if they could make the tree change.

“Our best friends had gone to see the area, intrigued by our sudden interest to relocate and decided they too wanted the Gippsland life for their small family.

“Eighteen months on and we are settling into our newly built home and our friends move in November.

“This place now has our hearts and it all started with a friend and a fabulous community farmers market,” Rebecca said.
