New driveway improves access
West Gippsland Hospital’s new driveway, patient drop off and car park has opened.
Significant construction work has taken place at the hospital this year to build a new short stay unit to support the emergency department and a new third operating theatre funded through funding from the state government’s Regional Infrastructure Fund.
The new driveway at the front of the hospital can be accessed by entering the first (eastern) driveway off Landsborough St, coming from the roundabout
The marked car parks on the inside of the new roadway are pick up/drop off 10 minutes only.
The angle car parks along the right side off the new roadway are marked for community members.
The patient drop off area will enable people with a disability or mobility issues to enter the hospital main entry or emergency department via flatter ground.
The roadway, patient drop off area and new parking will help to ease some parking congestion at the hospital and increase disability access to the front door entry.
The new short stay unit built to support the emergency department is set to open in the next few weeks.
The new third theatre construction is on schedule for completion in September.
