Warragul has qualified all three senior netball teams into finals for the first time in the club’s history. A grade: Warragul 37 lost to Moe 44. There was more than four points riding on A grade’s game on Saturday. They were battling it out with Moe to finish third on the ladder and get the bonus chance during finals. Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be the Gulls’ day. In trying and very windy conditions, the Gulls got off to a great start and it looked to be a great game. Scores were even at the first break.

In the second break, coach Urie asked her team to put their foot on the pedal and that’s what they did for a six-goal lead at half—time.

Unfortunately, an injury to centre Hayley Roberts at the end of the quarter saw her not be able to take part in the third quarter, and Moe took advantage of the Gulls’ changes.

Mia McGarrity worked tirelessly in the midcourt but the very windy conditions made it difficult for Warragul’s usually very accurate goalers.

Moe ended taking the four points and the third place on the ladder by seven goals. However, Urie told her team that they should be excited and ready for the challenge ahead of them. Awards: Mia McGaritty and Myah Healey. B grade: Warragul 32 drew Moe 32. Warragul came out firing in beautiful conditions at Moe and went into the first break with a five-goal lead.

Defensive pressure was excellent by Warragul in the first half and they were able to maintain the lead at the main break.

However, a slight dip in intensity after halftime saw Moe even the score out.

A goal-for-goal final term saw the game end in a draw.

Warragul is proud of its efforts against a team who sat at the top of the ladder all year. They are ready and excited for the upcoming finals series.

Awards: Eboni Wall, Alanis Joyner and Bec O’Halloran. C grade: Warragul 31 lost to Moe 36. Coming off a couple of weeks of great netball, Warragul was keen to finish the home and away season strongly.

It was a good start for the Gulls and they held a lead at the first break.

But Moe upped the pressure and closed that margin in the second and scores remained level for the majority of the game.

Warragul was disappointed to lose the match but have quickly put it behind them and can’t wait to play finals netball on Saturday.

Awards: Jessie Gleeson for a great game in defence and leading the way with her hunger for the ball, and Cindy Dawson for yet another brilliant game in wing defence. Under 17: Warragul 28 lost to Moe 32. In the final game of the season, the Gulls left everything on the court as they narrowly went down to third of the ladder Moe.

These girls have proved once again how competitive they will be next season if they can continue to gel together and work hard.

Grace Radford was effortless in defence. With the help of Ella Weir and Lily Sheean, she worked the ball down the court beautifully.

Bridie Mulqueen, Tanae Guy and Myah Healey played fantastic games in the attacking end, displaying great patience when capitalising on opportunities.

Award: Jacinta Baggot who filled in and played another great game. Under 15: Warragul 17 lost to Moe 44. The girls had perfect, sunny conditions for their last game of the season.

The Gulls girls gave it everything they had against a quality opposition.

Emily Hobbs, who has really developed as a player this season, had another great game and got an award for her efforts.

Liv Muir also got an award for her game. It has been a pleasure to welcome Liv into the team and club this year.

Thanks go to Paris for coaching and Gracie for being the team manager. Under 13: Warragul 18 lost to Moe 30. The baby Gulls have developed incredibly throughout the 2019 season.

Week after week they continue to work hard all four quarters, put into play what they have done at training and impress the club with their improvement.

This week was no exception. Once again, they didn’t make it an easy win for Moe with great defence and ball movement down the court. Awards: Pippa Cook and Arabell Looby. Thanks to April for doing an incredible job coaching these little jets and to Tammy for her help. Also thanks to Kim Weller for coaching in April’s absence this week.
