Speeding drivers nabbed
Three local drivers will be forced to find another means of transport when they lose their licences for speeding at the end of the month.
As part of a four-day statewide traffic operation, Baw Baw Highway Patrol intercepted three speeding drivers over the weekend.
Three drivers also recorded positive drug tests.
Operation Furlong will continue today with police targeting speeding, alcohol and drug affected rivers across the region, including freeways, main and local roads.
On Saturday, three speeding motorists were intercepted by highway patrol police, two of who also tested positive for drugs.
A male in his late 20s was intercepted after police detected him driving at 136 km/hour at Nilma. The male also recorded a positive drug reading.
A 58-year-old was intercepted after he was detected at 110 km/hour in an 80 km/hour zone between Warragul and Drouin. The male also recorded a positive drug reading.
Both men will lose their licences for three months in 28 days.
A third driver, a 19-year-old P plater was intercepted after police allege he was driving 119 km/hour in an 80 km/hour zone between Warragul and Drouin.
The P plate driver will lose his licence for six months.
Police also intercepted a Cranbourne woman who was allegedly 27 km/hour over the limit in Trafalgar on Sunday. The woman was detected in a 60 km/hour zone at the eastern end of the town. She will lose her licence for three months.
