Cinema popping up

-

Four outdoor cinema sessions will be held in Civic Park, Drouin in December.

Following the success of Cinema Pop Up in Warragul last year, the outdoor cinema experience is set to deliver four movie screenings of family friendly movies to enjoy under the stars.

The event series will feature Aladdin on December 5; Elf on December 6; The Grinch on December 7; and, Big Hero 6 on December 8.

Tickets are available for purchase at the gate for $10 for adults and $5 for children, however, if you book online, tickets are free for kids under 17 and $5 for adults. Tickets are available via the Cinema Pop up website.

All tickets for Elf on December 6 are free, as part of the Drouin Lights Up Festival. Gates open at 7pm.

The pop-up roadshow will feature movies, free games and activities for kids, a candy bar with popcorn and snacks, and a bar for the adults. Movie-goers can take their own food but BYO alcohol and soft drink is not permitted.

VIP reserved seating is available by booking a bean bed for $20.

Baw Baw Shire Council has provided $5500 towards this event as part of its economic development strategy.

Patrons are encouraged to arrive early, get a good spot, and set up with blankets and cushions before the movie kicks off.

Mayor Mikaela Power said the movie screenings were a huge hit last year providing lots of family-friendly fun closer to home.

Cinema Pop Up director Kate Hardwick said these were the type of experiences often only found in metropolitan areas.

“Having these magnificent partners on board together with support from Baw Baw Shire Council means we can offer a really affordable experience people can share in together,” she said.
