Orchid club

-

The October meeting of the West Gippsland Orchid Clugb drew a good crowd with the guest speaker Michael Cocker giving lots of information on orchid cultivation and answering questions from the members.

The next meeting will be on November 7 and the guest speaker will be Jeanie Dunn from Briagolong. This is Jeanie’s first time to the club meeting and she will be speaking on the topic of Native and Sarcochilus orchids. Jeanie will most likely bring some orchid plants for sale as well.

There are still lots of orchids flowering at present so there should be a great display for the judges and members to look at on the night.

The Christmas get together will be discussed and members will be given information on the changes for that.

The Sarcochilus Show at Lucknow Memorial Hall, 105 Great Alpine Road, Lucknow is to be held on Saturday November 9. WGOC members attending will travel will be by private vehicle as there weren’t enough participants to warrant a bus.

If anyone is considering joining West Gippsland Orchid Club they are most welcome to attend a meeting without any pressure to join the club.

All inquiries can be made to president Bob Lowrie on 0408525134 or just come along and see for yourself. We meet at the Scout Hall, Victoria Street, Drouin on the first Thursday of each month (not January).

Doors open at 7pm and the formalities are usually completed by 9:30pm followed by a cuppa and a chat.
