Gardiners take out On Farm Challenge

Cardinia farmers John and Cherie Gardiner have won the major award at the Holstein Australia On Farm Challenge for West Gippsland.

“Avonlea Reginald Fan” was awarded the highest pointed cow of the West Gippsland sub-branch competitio­n which featured 98 head of cattle from 11 local farms.

Kylee Paull’s “View Fort Barbwire Redfoo” won highest point red cow in competitio­n.

Judge Geoffrey Hutchinson of Windy Vale Holsteins in Myponga, South Australia was the judge. He announced the awards during a successful presentati­on dinner held at Ellinbank Football/Cricket clubrooms.

The top five in each class included:

Two-year-old class: first “Jenamy Uno Perle 1737”, Marco and Rita Payette – Marcrita P/L; second “Winaview Mogul Alicia 1295”, Brendon Winter; third - “Thornhill Creek Meridian Angie 4617”, Colin and Dale Armstrong; fourth “McDonald Shottle Fantasy”, Dylan McDonald; fifth “Avonlea Doorman June”, John and Cherie Gardiner.

Three-year-old class: first “Bluechip MP Mogul

Cretonne”, Dylan McDonald; second - “Avonlea Golden Fan”, John and Cherie Gardiner; third - “Smethurst Park 1st class Betta”, Troy Smethurst; fourth - “Hearts Ridge Alta 1st class Nellie”, Craig and Felicia Bills; fifth “Thornhill Creek Armani Tiffany 4319”, Colin and Dale Armstrong.
