Two fatal collisions within 48 hours
Two men were killed in fatal collisions at Ripplebrook and Trafalgar in less than 48 hours.
An 18-year-old Pakenham man was killed at Ripplebrook on Thursday and a 45-yearold Morwell man was killed at Trafalgar early Saturday morning.
Police and emergency services were called to Westernport Rd at 10.40am on Thursday following a single vehicle collision.
Police said the Holden utility, driven by an 18-year-old man, was travelling south when the driver lost control, left the roadway and crashed into a tree.
Police are preparing a report for the coroner.
At Trafalgar, the Princes Fwy was closed for almost eight hours after a motorcyclist died in a collision at the Ashby St intersection just after 5am.
Police said the truck and motorcycle collided in the intersection.
The motorcyclist was travelling east along Princes Fwy and the truck driver was travelling into the intersection from Waterloo Rd.
Police said the 78-year-old truck driver from Trafalgar stopped at the scene and is assisting police with investigations.
Helimed attended but the motorcyclist died at the scene.
The freeway remained closed until 12.45pm. Police were in place at Davey Drv and Dodemaids Rd to divert traffic from the scene.
Major collisions unit police attended to investigate.
