Police seek community help
Baw Baw CIU detectives are appealing for community assistance in relation to a burglary at Drouin Home Timber and Hardware.
Detectives believe a man depicted in CCTV images is associated with a burglary at the Princes Way hardware store at 3.30am last Monday.
CCTV footage showed the man attending the scene in a vehicle that appeared to be a 2010 white Holden Commodore utility.
Detectives said it appeared the man forced entry to the premises via the front glass doors and left with some tools.
The stolen property, valued at $8500, included grinders, nail guns, an impact wrench and job site radios.
Anyone who can identify the man or has information that may assist investigations should contact detective senior constable Brett Miller at Baw Baw CIU (brett.miller@police.vic.gov.au)
Mawarra will celebrate its 60th anniversary this weekend with an open day for the community.
In 1959 a committee was elected at a public meeting to begin a school in Warragul for children with a disability.
The initial intake was for six children from Warragul and surrounding areas who attended two days a week at a temporary school in the local Presbyterian kindergarten hall.
Sixty years on Mawarra continues to provide support to people with a disability in the West Gippsland region.
When the state government took on responsibility for education of school aged children with disabilities in the 1970s, Mawarra began catering for the needs of adults with disabilities. It now supports almost 120 clients.
Mawarra faced an uncertain future earlier this year when the organisation was placed into voluntary administration.
After an extensive process, members unanimously voted to partner with Knoxbrooke Incorporated which has ensured disability supports will remain in place under Mawarra’s name for clients and families, whilst all staff continued their employment.
