Men’s pairs championship

The final of the men’s pairs championship was played last week with Steve Pallot and Greg King battling David Smith and Matt Draisma.

It was expected to be a close match with both teams playing very well in the lead up games and semi-finals.

But David and Matt had other ideas and won six of the first seven ends to race to a 13/1 lead.

The momentum swung as Steve and Greg got 5/1/1 to bridge the gap to five shots. However, David and Matt got two and three to go to a 10-shot lead.

The next four ends were shared, with each team getting three shots. Steve and Greg got four on the 17th end to give themselves a mathematical chance of winning. But they could only manage one shot on the last end to lose by five.

Singles finals

The men’s and women’s singles finals will be played on Sunday at 10am.

Graeme Davis plays David Alderman in the men’s and Janette Gallasch plays Elsie Hefford in the women’s.

Come along and watch what should be two great games.
