Zekic bludgeons 71 as Catani dominate
Division three:
Another dominant Catani performance highlighted the day at Yarragon on the weekend.
Winning the toss and batting, Scott May (69) and Ross Kortholt (42) dominated the listless Panther attack, before George Zekic (71 off 52) bludgeoned the attack to all parts in another dominant display by the division's best cricketer.
Late blows pushed the score to an almost unassailable 8-284, as only Joel Kilday (3-84) and Chris McCallum (2-75) had any real impact with the ball.
A clash of two of the cellar-dwellers in the division saw Western Park take a firm grip on the clash with Jindivick.
Daniel Hilton (82) returned to form with a brutal knock at the top of the innings to set the tone, before skipper Michael Rabl blasted five sixes in his knock of 70 to deflate the Jumping Jack attack.
Elliot Kennedy (30*) and Sam Laffy (15*) pushed the score to an imposing 8-267 as light faded, with the lush outfield proving no effect on the Warrior batsmen.
Flynn Pallott (2-37), James Keogh (2-34) and Andrew Pyle (2-68) battled hard for the home side. However, they found the going tough and will need an incredible batting performance next week.
Another strong bowling performance from Neerim District gave them the upper-hand against Garfield-Tynong.
Marc Tymkin (5-41) and Warren Darcy (2-18) used all the experience at their disposal. The pair proved too much to handle for all but a few of the Titan batsmen.
Tom Brown (45) and Craig Murray (35) produced strong resistance, the latter involved in a 39-run last wicket stand which pushed the total to a defendable 155 heading into next week.
With one over to bat, the Stags got through unscathed. It will be all on the line at Maryknoll as both teams battle to cement themselves in the top four.
