Savage destroys Stags with swing bowling

- By Joel Batson

Division three:

Garfield-Tynong 155 defeated Neerim District 105:

A wonderful bowling performance from the Titans has seen them defend a mediocre score against Neerim District.

Defending 155, Daniel Savage (5-24) used the swinging ball to full affect, destroying the Stags top order in an outstanding display of country bowling.

Darren Vandenberge (2-19) and Craig Murray (2-11) followed suit, as no Neerim batsmen made a dent in the total, with the Stags all out for a disappointing 105, losing by 50 runs. Yarragon 113 lost to Catani 8/284:

Catani has continued its path of destruction in the WDCA, humiliating Yarragon away from home.

Defending a mammoth 284, Catani was never troubled by Yarragon, with only John

Allsop (33) providing any resistance as the Blues' bowlers did as they pleased.

Mitch Gregson (3-39) continued his fine form, as did George Zekic (2-16), with Riley Miller (2-13) closing out the tail to bring an early end to the day as Yarragon was bundled out well short of the target for just 113. Jindivick 189 lost to Western Park 8/267: Western Park's massive total last week was the secret to victory at the Kydd-Park Reserve on the weekend.

Defending 267, the Warriors were never troubled by Jindivick, with Josh Baker (4-38) and left-arm pace-men Sam Laffy (2-35) the men with the golden-arms as Jindivick batted all day for 189.

The Bagnall's, Daryl (51) and Nick (35), provided the most entertainment for Jumping Jack onlookers, as did Matt Cheshire’s quick fire (35). However, 267 was always seemingly too much to ask, falling well short in the end.
