St Paul’s tops VCE median study scores

Students at all seven secondary schools in Baw Baw Shire performed creditably in Victorian Certificat­e of Education (VCE) studies this year.

Details of overall median study scores were released last week by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority.

Best performed was St Paul’s Anglican Grammar School at Warragul that also draws students from neighbouri­ng municipali­ties.

Its VCE students achieved an average study score of 32, two above the state average, and 13.6 per cent of subject scores exceeded 40 points (from a maximum of 50), results that placed them in the top eight per cent across the state.

The highest average study score among all Victorian secondary schools was 39.

Marist-Sion College at Warragul matched the State average of 30 and 3.9 per cent of its study scores were 40 or more.

VCE students at Neerim District secondary college and Chairo Christian School at Drouin had median study scores of 29, Drouin secondary college 28, Warragul Regional College 27 and Trafalgar high school 26.

Percentage of study scores in the state’s top eight per cent (40 points and above) were 4.7 at Chairo, 2.9 at Drouin SC, 2.4 at Warragul SC and 1.4 at Trafalgar high.

The district schools also had some outstandin­g individual results.

St Paul’s highest individual Australian Tertiary Admission Rank was 99.50 while at Warragul Secondary college it was 96.95, Marist-Sion 96.45 Trafalgar high 95.15, Chairo 94.35 and Drouin SC 91.8

Neerim district did not release details of the score of its dux of the school.
