Rampant Yarragon too good
Division three:
A rampant Yarragon bowling attack has proved too good for Drouin away from home.
Dylan Mills (4-20), Joel Kilday (2-13) and Joh Buckland (2-28) caused a massive collapse at the top of the order that the Hawks never recovered from. Only Adin Short (27) helped Drouin reached 77.
In reply, Yarragon was never really troubled as Kye Osseweyer (3-30) took several late wickets to make a game of it, but Andy Trewern (25*) stood tall to lead Yarragon to victory.
Neerim District continued its dominant form, easily accounting for the Titans at home.
Bowling first, Marc Tymkin (2-20), Jamie Gleeson (2-20) and Cam Law (2-17) used all their experience to good effect, restricting
Garfield-Tynong to 115 in a seriously impressive display.
In reply, the Stags did the job easily. The promoted Davin George (40) batting positively, aided by youngster Vinnie Caia (36), as Neerim won with six wickets to spare.
A bevy of Buln's premiership heroes returned to hand its division three side a much-needed win at Jindivick on the weekend.
Bowling first, the Lyrebirds were made to work for their wickets - as Brandon Interlandi (38) and James Keogh (29) helped the Jumping Jacks to 6-146. Alistair Hood was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets.
In reply, the Lyrebird’s batting-order was much improved. After a slow start, Jeff Walsh (87*) proved he will be undoubtedly be in the higher grades soon as he bullied the outclassed Jindivick attack, securing victory with a flurry of late boundaries.
Catani has secured top spot heading into the new year, battling hard to defeat Western Park on the weekend.
Batting first on the pristine Western Park number one oval, the Blues had Danial MacFarlane (49), Robert Coupe (43*) and George Zekic to thank for their total. The trio dampened the Warriors’ potent bowling, including Josh Baker (2-33) and Jack Walsh (2-28).
With 191 to chase, Catani’s strong bowling came to the fore. Only the experienced Stephen Briggs (38) was able to provide any resistance as Danial MacFarlane (5-10) utterly destroyed the home side, completing a dominant man-of-the-match performance as Western Park fell short by 31 runs.
