Mixed fortunes for Drouin

It was a good day for Drouin Bowling Club as two teams won on Saturday.

Division four won by just seven shots over Yallourn North, with two rinks up and two down. In division six, Drouin had a good win after struggling all year with both teams up against Yinnar.

Division one: Drouin 0/72 lost to Traralgon RSL 20/114.

Graeme Aubrey, Arthur Moore, Ian McCartney and Toby Wallace lost to Maurie Gardiner’s team 22/27. Bob Cole, Maureen Leighton, John Leighton and Dale Hendrick lost to David Hodson’s team 19/26. John Bulmer, Bruce Andrews, Steve Barr and Les Firth lost to Beau Williamson’s team 17/27. Jan Aubrey, Ron Brodie, Mick Fleming and Col Finger lost to Rick Lukey’s team 14/34.

Division two: Drouin (2) 2/75 lost to Moe 18/116.

Elaine Thorpe, Lyn Jeffrey, Pauline Appleyard and Denise Hamilton lost to Andy Caines’ team 19/25. Kevin Campbell, Robbie Proctor, Phil Jarred and Noel Rubenstein lost to Edward Kuklinsky 9/42. Mary Firth, Brian Thorpe, Terry McFadzean and Col Jeffrey lost to Stuart Caines 22/28. Andre De Waele,

James Brownlee, David Tayles and Graeme Woolstencr­oft defeated Jayde Leech’s team 25/21.

Division four: Drouin (3) 16/99 defeated Yallourn North 4/92.

Clive Newman, Dini Hone, Lloyd Smith and Peter Hone lost to R. Roberts’ team 19/26. Barrie Price, Mal Anderson, Margaret Schofield and Neil Bullen defeated S. Lovison’s team 31/16. Richard Joyner, Gerry Wakefield, Margie Rhodes and Laurie Innes defeated D. Fry’s team 26/21. This was Laurie’s first game as skip. Well done Laurie who is always a leader. Merv Appleyard, Gwen Price, Tom Lawler and Neil Stoney lost to G. Platschind­a’s team 23/29.

Division six: Drouin (4) 10/68 defeated Yinnar (2) 0/33.

Ashley Rees, Maureen McMillan, Ian Haughton and Gary Watts defeated Peter Canavan’s team 29/17. Max Hine, Ruth Waring, Jim Purvis and Les Gouge d Beryl Couling’s team 39/16. This 23-shot win earnt the title of overall best rink.

With only three rounds to go before the finals, it could be interestin­g to see who gets in and who misses out.
