Composer presents Bunyip award

Award winning composer, pianist and conductor Peter Sullivan has been announced as Bunyip’s Australia Day Ambassador.

Mr Sullivan will present the Bunyip citizen of the year award on Sunday.

Mr Sullivan was one half of The Two-Man Band, co-performer and co-producer with Mike Brady on the smash hit “Up There Cazaly”.

He has performed, composed and conducted original motion picture scores including The Pirate Movie and Crocodile Dundee and, in his role of musical director at Channel Nine, he was responsibl­e for shows including IMT, Carols by Candleligh­t, the Michael Crawford Special and The Footy Show.

Bunyip’s Australia Day celebratio­n will be held in the Bunyip Hall from 9.30am. It will conclude with a morning tea which all are invited to attend.

The Cardinia Shire will again hold its flagship Australia Day event at the Cardinia Cultural Centre in Pakenham.

The day will commence at 11am with the welcoming of 100 of the shire’s newest citizens in a ceremony, before the Cardinia Shire citizen, senior citizen, young citizen and community event of the year awards are announced.

Cardinia Shire Mayor Cr Jeff Springfiel­d said the day was a wonderful one to celebrate all those who call Australia home.

“In Cardinia Shire we are blessed to have a vibrant and diverse community – I believe that our cultural diversity is one of our greatest strengths and contribute­s to making our shire such a welcoming community in which to live,” Cr Springfiel­d said.
