Warragul win two LADDERS

Warragul Bowling Club had a good day in round 12 of WGBD pennant on Saturday, with two teams winning and just one losing.

Division two: Warragul defeated Traralgon (3) 98/68.

John Vickerman, Ken Scammell, Janette Gallasch and Andrew Glover defeated Maurie Holt’s team 22/18. David Alderman, Ian Belling, Peter Gallasch and Clive Padgham defeated Roger Davey’s team 20/19. Des Stephens, Paul Simmons, Jim Power and Graeme Davis defeated Trevor James’ team 26/17. Brian Kennedy, Shirley Melsen, Pat Hammond and Bill Clappers defeated Tony Buhagiar’s team 30/14.

Division three: Warragul (2) defeated Traralgon RSL (2) 91/85.

Jack Lee, Linda McCoy, Norm Dickson and David Smith lost to George Gibbons’ team 20/28. Kerrie Currie, Greg Mitchell, David Ferguson and Necip Akarsu defeated Gordon Asbury’s team 29/17. Ken Brown, Ron

Collins, Gabrielle Draisma and Elsie Hefford defeated John Farquhar’s team 25/20. Peter Howlett, Matt Draisma, Glynis Mitchell and Bob Currie lost to Brendon Smiles’ team 17/20.

Division four: Warragul (3) lost to Drouin 85/103.

Ted Holland, Marg Keeffe, Lester Mason and Eric Porter defeated Neil Bullen’s team 27/19. John Bell, Gary Thomas, David Piggin and Chris Wilkins lost to Neil Stoney’s team 20/27. Jean Kydd, Brian Barby, Bernie McIntosh and Roy Hammond lost to Peter Hone’s team 13/30. Freda Lay, Ray Headspeath, Bill Clark and Barry Downer lost to Laurie Innes’ team 25/27.

Pennant now takes a break for the Australia Day holiday before returning on Sunday, February 1 for round 13.

Warragul division two is away to Moe, division three is home to Moe, division four is home to Yallourn North and division five is away to Morwell.

Drouin Bowling Club had a good weekend of bowls with big wins in division one and four.

With the big win over Longwarry on Saturday, Drouin has climbed into fifth position on the division one ladder. They could now make finals but will have to see with only two rounds to play against Morwell Club and Traralgon.

Division one: Drouin 18/117 defeated Longwarry 2/76.

Graeme Aubrey, Arthur Moore, Col Finger and Toby Wallace defeated John McCarthy’s team 29/14. Maureen Leighton, John Leighton, Mick Fleming and Dale Hendrick defeated Barry White’s team 30/21. John Bulmer, Bruce Andrews, Tim Anderson and Les Firth defeated Russell White’s team 39/12 to be overall best rink. Jan Aubrey, Ron Brodie, Ian McCartney and Adam Proctor lost to Trevor Eastwell’s team 19/29.

Division two: Drouin (2) 2/83 Traralgon (2) 18/96.
