Crows crumble after strong start at home

- By Zac Wright Under 16’s:

The Titans emerged with yet another win against the struggling Crows.

Bowling first, a crucial knock from Daniel Pullen (38*) and Finn Fox (20) helped put the Crows towards a healthy total. However, no other batsman made it to double digits, making it hard work for the Crows skipper, as they lost 7/38 after the dismissal of Fox.

With the bat, the Titans put on a good display and got home comfortably in the end, as they finished with 4/126, easily chasing the total.

Alex Squires gave a late effort of 2/15 for the Crows.

The Kangas got up in a tight contest against the Jumping Jacks.

Batting first, an opening knock from Brad Ward (25*) set the tone, before Brock Walsh (25*) and Alex Henshall (25*) came out and did some damage.

Hudson Rintoule (2/10) put the brakes on the Kangas late as they finished with 4/119.

In reply, the Jumping Jacks batted with real intent. Opener Riley Feil (30*) did the damage early, followed by Sam Christie (25*) later on in the innings. Unfortunately for the Jumping Jacks, the support cast didn’t kick as well as what they hoped, as they finished just 12 runs short on 5/109.

The Warriors came away with a big victory over the Eagles at home. Batting first, opener and young gun Patrick Ireland set the tone for his side, making 37 not out, as Toby Murfet (26*) and Sam Fusinato (25*) followed his lead.

Each batsman chipped in, however, a tight sharp spell from Jack Logan (2/14) put the pressure right on late, as the Warriors finished on 4/146.

In reply, the Eagles showed flashes of potential, but were far from getting near the total at hand. Skipper Bryce Joyce (28*) and Liam Finnegan (19) were the only batsman to contribute, leaving them at 6/71.

Kyle Baker (2/11) and Lane Ward (2/14) were the pick of the bowlers for the Warriors.

Under 14’s:

The Eagles held their nerve to gain potentially the win of the season so far against the Warriors.

Batting first, the skipper led by example once again, as Liam Lisle (21*) set the tone for his teammates, which was followed by a dominant display from Archie Martel (23*).

A good bowling display from Jack Walsh (2/16) kept the pressure on, as the Eagles finished on 4/95.

In reply, the Warriors didn’t show as much as they were expecting. Opener Adam Mills (20*) got the Warriors off to the start they needed, however, only one other batsman made it to double digits.

The Eagles almost cost themselves the game, bowling 34 extras to see the result decided in the last over. The Warriors needed 13 off it, but bowler Jordan Lewis held his nerve, as the Warriors finished on 6/91, five short of the target.

The Panthers stole victory late against the Gulls.

Batting first, the Gulls lost one early before in-form batsman Rylan Berryman (21*) came out and took it to the bowling attack. He and Tyler Best (17) helped push their side to a competitive total.

A couple of late wickets put the pressure back on the Gulls as they finished up on 4/77.

In reply, the Panthers showed determination with the bat in hand. Both openers, Liam Smith-Butterworth (21*) and Addison Cumming (21*), helped their side off to a good start. The only wicket off their innings fell when they were on 67, before the Gulls put a squeeze on to make runs very hard to come by. The Panthers scampered through for the victory in the last two overs of the match, finishing on 1/80.

A dominant display from the Hawks saw them roll over Bunyip/Catani.

Batting first, opener Hamish Piner (20*) set the tone against the new ball, before in-form batsman Seb Amoroso (22*) did some further damage to the bowling. The other Hawks batsmen all chipped in to push their side to a good total of 5/124.

In reply, Bunyip/Catani crumbled, with the opening bowler Cameron Caddy (3/9) doing the damage early, setting up his teammates Ibby Wahid (2/4) and Musa Faisal Wahid (2/9). No batsman could get comfortable at the crease, with Bunyip/Catani finishing on 9/74.

The Titans dominated Buln Buln/Hallora with bat and ball.

Batting first, the Titans showed good intent, as Jake Van Den Berghe (20*), Archer Burgmann (24*) and Theodore Zaccari (21*) all made the bowlers pay for loose deliveries.

Each batsman chipped in to push the total to 3/130, making it very difficult for Buln Buln/Hallora to chase.

With the bat in hand, Buln Buln/Hallora didn’t offer much. Only one batsman made it over 10, whilst the rest of the batting order didn’t get past five, as the Titans put a squeeze on with the ball.

The pressure was consistent and Buln Buln/Hallora had no answer as they finished with 5/48, well behind the total they chased.

Jindivick recorded its first win of the season with victory over Drouin.

Opting to bat first, the Jumping Jacks steadily built a defendable total with Michael Dixon (44) and Jack Sugars (44) sharing an important third wicket stand that added 69 to the scoreboard.

Steve Fricke contributed handy runs in the latter stages, finishing with 24 not out. Best of the bowlers was Campbell Jolly with 2/33.

In reply, a 90-run stand from Steve Bleazby (43) and Campbell Jolly (70 not out) threatened to derail the home side’s chance of victory. However, a collapse of 5/16 soon put
