World visitors to Ayrshires

-

The Gippsland Ayrshire Cattle Club recently hosted the World Ayrshire Federation Conference Australian Tour.

World Ayrshire Federation delegates and guests are in Australia for the World Ayrshire Conference, which is held every four years.

There are 10 member countries of the World Ayrshire Federation, they are; Australia, Canada, Colombia, Finland, Sweden, New Zealand, South Africa, United Kingdom, Kenya, and United States of America.

More than 80 people travelled to Gippsland. The first stop was Munden Farms of Nilma, which is home of Royal Adelaide Show 2019 Senior Champion Ayrshire, Gippsland Club Herds Competition Champion, Reserve Champion and Honourable Mention, Victorian Cow of the Year and All Australian Cow of the Year to mention just a few.

Munden Farms also are holders of many production awards, both regionally and nationally. There were many positive comments about the quality of cattle, particularly that there were few cows of poor type.

The tour then made its way to Araluen Park and Bluegum Park Ayrshires of Shady Creek.

Araluen Park is home to 2019 International Dairy Week Supreme Champion, and Intermediate Champion, as well as winners and place getters from previous years and other events.

The Araluen Park and Bluegum Park Ayrshires are generally of a high standard for type and features many perpetually successful cow families.

On both farms the cattle were very well presented with comprehensive booklets available noting the pedigrees of each animal.
