Fairview wool group knit for East Gippsland

-

Every Tuesday morning at Fairview, resident members of the Fairview Wool Group meet to knit items for those in need, and for special causes.

The current focus has been knitting items for those affected by the bushfires in Victoria.

Since hearing about the bushfires and the terrible impact the fires are having on many communities and individuals, Wool Group members have been busily knitting many items and have filled a giant box full of blankets and toys ready to be dispersed when necessary, through the Warragul Rotary Club.

Warragul Rotarian Sally Jones visited the Fairview Wool Group to thank them for their efforts and ongoing support. “It’s great for the ladies to have the opportunity to continue to engage in an activity that provides a real sense of purpose”

“The knitted items will go to East Gippsland, they won’t be given out just yet, it’s not the right time, but later down the track when kids need toys and kids need warm jumpers, it’ll be there for them,” she said.

Lifestyle Manager at Fairview, Maddie Jones said “The Wool Group have continually been helping many causes in Australia as well and around the world. The group have sent knitted items, including jumpers to Nepal, blankets and rugs to the Northern Territory for Aboriginal communities and blankets to the Fistula hospital in Africa”

With around 20 members, the wool group have been continually knitting for those in need for over 20 years.
