With the course playing almost as soft as a Collingwoo­d Friday night free-kick, and with less run than Adelaide’s midfield, a mid-winter Monthly Medal Stroke round was always going to be a daunting prospect.

Saturday’s drizzly, cold weather added to the dire mix, which meant that only 28 players who would do anything to avoid domestic chores at home braved the elements.

Visiting Melbourne, Samoa Golf Club member Jerome Tauvi had by far the best nett score of the day, shooting a four-under nett 69 off his 20 handicap to win the day’s only division. Drawing inspiratio­n from his beloved Bombers, Sean Kelly proved himself to be a real wet-track specialist with a fantastic nett two-under 71 to win his first Monthly Medal.

This sees him continue a hot streak of form since golf resumed, coming on the heels of a strong performanc­e in the Stroud Trophy qualificat­ion. DTL: David Cavanagh, Duart Perrin 73, Ian Good 74.
