Winter season on

-

The Warragul and District Basketball Association have announced that the 2020 winter season is open as play gets underway after the COVID-19 shutdown.

They have encouraged participants to reach out and register to play, with the season to get underway with restrictions in place on Monday July 20 for seniors and Tuesday July 21 for juniors.

Limitations on spectators and signing in will be required, with social distancing to be observed on the benches and seating. There will be a 20-minute changeover period between games and participants must depart immediately after finishing the game.

Hand sanitizer will be used before and after each match, while players will be prohibited from bringing their own basketballs into the stadium and must bring their own drink bottle.

Admin operations manager Kristy Leslie said that the league has seen great interest after the long layoff.

“We have seen fantastic numbers wanting to come and play which is great,” Kristy said.

“It’s been a pretty smooth process in getting the games back up. We met with teach facility individually to outline the processes they need to go through. It was all about good planning and I think we had that,” Kristy added.

The senior season will consist of 10 rounds, with a fixture to be released approximately five days before the season start.

?? ?? It won’t be long until basketball returns, with players like Grace Patterson set to be back on court from July 21.
