Local businesses have been very supportive of Drouin Dragons with cleaning supplies provided by both Bunnings and Office Choice in Warragul.

The Gippsland Soccer League held a delegates meeting last week and confirmed a start date for both juniors and seniors. Juniors will commence the season on the 19th July while the seniors will kick-off on August 2 and run into October.

"The GSL Clubs have been flexible and open to ideas on how the reduced season format will look like. COVID-19 guidelines continue to change and so will the GSL competition format. The club delegates confirmed a start date after agreeing that we needed to get the competition underway. Football Victoria attended the delegates meeting and confirmed support and guidance for the reduced season under very trying times.

The Gippsland Soccer League also confirmed a reduction in fees for 2020. Jason went on to say that his club will also look to follow the same suit.

“The Drouin Dragons Soccer Club will also look at reducing the club component of registrations for 2020 based on the generosity from the Baw Baw Shire Council cancelling 2020 ground usage fees and assisting with utility costs. The Victorian Government also provided the club with a $1000 grant recently.”

The passion for soccer remains strong in the Baw Baw Shire with Warragul United kicking off in State 1 in a few weeks and Trafalgar Victory joining the GSL in 2020.

The Baw Baw Shire Council are strong supporters of the three soccer clubs in the local area with recent upgrades such as new pitch lighting at Bellbird Park and new facilities upgrades at Warragul United and Trafalgar Victory recently approved.

Planning is also well underway for a new shared pavilion at Bellbird Park in the next few years.

Training at Bellbird Park runs on a Tuesday and Thursday evening and new players are encouraged to attend.
