Bishop elect visits
An all abilities adventure playground will be built at Blue Rock Lake in Willow Grove.
Works for the $325,000 project will begin this month with the aim of completing the playground at one of the region’s most popular fishing spots by September.
The playground, located at the recreation area off Old Tanjil Rd, will feature equipment for all ages and abilities. This includes a triple bay swing set, large accessible multi-play frame, maxi slide, sensory features and play panels, two in-ground trampolines and musical chimes.
The car park, fencing and pathways will also be upgraded to link the toilet facilities and shelter areas to the new playground and increase accessibility.
“We are very grateful for the funding that has made this project possible, which will benefit the Willow Grove community and visitors to Baw Baw Shire for years to come,” said Baw Baw Shire deputy mayor Peter Kostos.
“Blue Rock Lake is one of the most popular fishing spots in our region and will now become an even better destination yearround, especially for families and visiting groups,” he said. “It will be the perfect place for visitors to stop for a break on their way to explore the region, or stay for a day of fishing, boating or kayaking on the lake.”
The playground will be delivered in partnership by Southern Rural Water (SRW) and Baw Baw Shire Council, with funding support from the Victorian Government’s Boosting Recreational Water Use Initiative.
“SRW is delighted to work with Baw Baw Shire in delivering this exciting project which will benefit local communities and the many visitors who come to Blue Rock Lake for recreation,” said SRW representative Terry Clapham.
