Obey COVID laws

-

As we move again to stage three restrictions, I think we all understand the hardship in front of us.

As Baw Baw Shire mayor, I want to urge and encourage all of my fellow citizens to obey the new laws and restrict your movements to essential ones only.

We have only ever had a handful of COVID19 cases in the shire.

So many people are quite rightly asking why they are being asked to sacrifice their normal day to day activities once again.

Of course, I don’t know the exact answer to

A big bouquet to the team down at the Warragul Respiratory Clinic for their COVID testing work. In what can only be trying and difficult circumstances I found them to be professional and polite, making the testing experience all that much easier. Thanks.

There was a lump of firewood in the middle of the road at Brandy Creek Rd and Sutton St, people just drove around it. Before I could go and move it, a lovely lady stopped her car and was already doing it. Nice to see people stopping and thinking of others.

Huge bricks to the irresponsible people who are putting up signs in public phone booths saying Covid19 doesn’t exist and it’s harmful to be tested and to wear face masks. Telstra was unaware of these signs and doesn’t agree with what has been written.

Huge bricks to the shops, especially chemists, that charge $3 for paper masks where others are charging $1.

Bouquets to the person who found and handed in my missing hearing aid in Coles at Drouin last week. Such a small item is easily lost and I had little hope of finding it again, especially as hearing aids and masks are an uneasy combination.

Bricks to the woman from Nar Nar Goon, shopping at Gippsland Wholesale fruit and vegetables on Friday morning who said “I'm in lockdown I shouldn't be here you know.”

Bouquets to the elderly gentleman for wearing a mask in Smith St on Friday to protect himself and his family. Unfortunately, when he spotted an old friend (without a mask) near the roundabout he stopped, pulled down his mask below his chin, and began a long chat. The spacing was less than half a metre. We need to help our oldies grasp the need to protect themselves.

A brick to the very aggressive woman on the Linear Park Trail in Warragul yesterday who ruined my lovely walk and made me cry by abusing me for wearing a mask.
