Clubs explore options
Trafalgar Football and Netball Club members and players have had the opportunity to vote on where they might turn in 2021, with the result to be released later this week.
League delegate for Trafalgar Brett Tonkin explained that there is now a process in place before the club announce their next move.
“All we can really say at the moment is we’ve had a very clear majority vote. We will now be informing our members and then we’ll go from there,” he said.
Trafalgar are hoping to move across to the EDFL in 2021 but will need approval from the EDFL clubs and AFL Gippsland in order to make the transition.
An announcement on whether the vote was for or against the move will be released towards the end of the week, with the club stating that if the motion was passed, will be moving quickly in order to settle in early for 2021, wherever that may be.
They aren’t the only club in the Mid Gippsland league to look ahead to 2021 either, with Yallourn Yallourn North following in the footsteps of Trafalgar, announcing they will be exploring all options for the 2021 season.
Yallourn Yallourn North cited ongoing concerns regarding governance, transparency and consultation of the potential merger with Alberton league as the reason for the decision.
Nothing has been confirmed regarding the next move by the club who will present to all members, players and supporters before any decision is made.
Yallourn Yallourn North president Evan Sheekey said the club would not be making any further public statements about future options.
