Scholarship for Gabby
Drouin Secondary College student Gabby Dawson has been awarded a twoyear academic scholarship to help reach her full potential.
More than 400 public high school students applied for the Harding Miller Education Scholarships with Gabby, a year nine student, selected as one of the 139 winners for 2020.
“I want to make the world a better place and help educate people on basic things such as how to be nicer to each other and treat people with respect and dignity,” said Gabby.
Harding Miller Education Foundation executive director Cara Varian said Gabby was very deserving of the scholarship.
“We are so pleased to announce Gabby as one of the scholarship recipients for 2020,” said Ms Varian. “At the Harding Miller Education Foundation, we are focused on providing talented, hardworking and high achieving young Australian women with tools, resources and support to help them reach their full potential.”
“Gabby is well deserving of the two-year scholarship and we are sure it will help her achieve success in coming years and put her in a position to fulfil tertiary education and career aspirations after school,” added Ms Varian.
Scholarship recipients receive new laptops, high speed internet, face-to-face and online tutoring, subject and career guidance, mentoring and financial support to help cover the costs of uniforms, books and school expenses.
The two-year scholarships are awarded to students in year nine and at the end of year 10 the recipients are invited to reapply for another two years of support. The four years of scholarship support is valued at over $20,000.
“We encourage any other local young girls who may need support to consider applying for a Harding Miller Education Foundation scholarship this year,” said Ms Varian.
Since its launch in 2015, the Harding Miller Education Foundation has supported 470 scholarship recipients.
Applications for 2021 scholarships are now open until Wednesday, September 23.
