Siegfried Rehburg
Disappointing dealings with Cardinia Shire inspired Kaduna Park resident Siegfried Rehburg to throw his hat into the ring.
Mr Rehburg, who works in the security industry, moved to the area about a year ago and is keen to get involved for the betterment of his forever home.
As president of the Kaduna Park Residents Group, Mr Rehburg had a
few dealings with council over pedestrian crossings and other issues.
“I’ve been less than impressed with the outcomes of that. If you can’t change it from the outside, I’ll change it from the inside.”
“Not so much a shake up, I think we can do a lot better.”
Mr Rehburg said some of the major issues facing Westernport include roads, infrastructure, lack of voice for smaller towns, need to improve town
planning and specific issues around local business support.
“I think we need to create an environment where people can work closer to where they live. There’s not enough opportunities for work in the area.”
He said council does a lot of things well. But if elected, he aims to focus on doing more for disenfranchised youth in terms of employment and sporting opportu
nities as well as address environment, water resources and heritage.
Having lived in New Zealand for 40 years before moving back to Australia in 2015, Mr Rehburg said “we’ll be here forever. I just love the area.”
He has worked in senior management roles and within large corporate companies in the security industry.
He says this brings experience in managing groups, negotiating and business development to the council table.
