Rate revenue is more than roads

-

I would like to comment on the recent letters to the editor about Baw Baw Shire rates.

The shire does a lot more with your rates apart from roads.

Obviously this is depending on what your priorities are.

Mine are aged care which is funded by the Federal Government.

The shire gets funding from the Federal Governm, ent but there are State Governent rules about health and safety that they have do go by. Then there is VicRoads and VCAT.

The staff in aged care in the shire do a wonderful job.

But they to have stick to their budget, similar to a household budget. We all have to live with what we have.

Regarding the council elections, I think anyone who puts their hand up, do so at they are community minded.

Outdated dogma

I am astonished to read how people relate their unpleasant encounters with infectious diseases as something to be avoided at all costs; these encounters are beneficial to our immune systems and aid us in avoiding other much more unpleasant, chronic diseases down the track.

Actually, we don’t avoid infectious diseases by vaccinating against them rather than allowing our immune systems to develop immunity.

The cyclic eruption of these infections continues regardless of whether vaccination has taken place and these eruptions can occur in 100 per cent vaccinated populations.

In fact, vaccination with the measles, and other vaccines spreads the disease by a process known as “shedding’ when a person who has been vaccinated, even if not sick, actually is capable of infecting someone else – like Typhoid Mary.

Further the disease that results from vaccines is different from the wild type so, rather than helping to decrease disease, vaccine creates a new one.

Read the science and become informed. Yes, the current science of vaccination is complex and the discussion of each disease and its vaccine is different. But it’s time for us to stop relying on the old outdated dogma of yesteryear.

Do the research

To claim mountain ash is endangered is ridiculous (Gaz 13/10).

Eucalyptus Regnans is a common plantation species in Australia and popular worldwide.

The timber coupe within sight of Noojee was gazetted for harvesting a long time ago.

Any persons contemplating a tree change should have researched and aquired this knowledge.

Such greenie, leftard, socialist snowflakes are also capable of purchasing a building block under the approach path of landing aircraft and then lobbying to close down a long established airport.

Lynton Malley, Cloverlea lobby DWELP, Parks Victoria and Melbourne Water to make them take responsibility for looking after their own assets instead of getting Baw Baw Shire to pay for something to be built on land they don't own.

Apparently it is claimed people urinate and defecate on the Thomson Dam wall and surrounds. Isn't this Melbourne Water's responsibility, not Baw Baw Shire.

There is a toilet at the Thomson dam but Melbourne Water or DWELP closed it.

Maybe users didn't respect the facility provided to them.

When there are no permanent residents in Aberfeldy how did a lot of small communities in Baw Baw Shire that have permanent residents that Micheal Leaney professes to support didn't get $50,000.

Road maintence, sporting facilities, footpaths etc. in the East ward would still go ahead even if Micheal Leaney was not a councillor.
