Survey out for two playgrounds

-

Community input is being sought into the $150,000 upgrade of two playgrounds at Yarragon and Longwarry.

Baw Baw Shire is urging community members to answer survey questions to identify favourite types of play equipment and what should and shouldn’t be included in the play spaces.

Memorial Park in Longwarry and Howard Park in Yarragon were selected for upgrade works as part of council’s capital works program for this year.

Community infrastructure director Cohen Van der Velde said both playgrounds needed a refresh and council wanted to know what the community would like to see included in the final designs.

“Whether you live in Yarragon or Longwarry or regularly visit either playground, this is a great opportunity to tell us what kind of equipment and layout would work best,” he said.

The playground upgrade project will be delivered in three stages, with the first stage focused on finding out what the community would like to see included in the designs.

Based on the feedback received from the first stage, council will present three potential designs for each site to be considered by the community.

Once a final design has been selected, the works will begin in early to mid-2021.

Both projects have an overall budget of $75,000 each.

Interested community members are also encouraged to provide feedback on the draft concept design for the new fenced dog park at Dowton Park in Yarragon.

The $177,000 project will be fully funded through the state government’s Building Works package.

Consultation is open until Sunday, December 6. For more information and to provide feedback visit www.bawbawshire.vic.gov.au/HaveYourSay
