Leigh takes home the toolkit

-

For many, many years Ace Industrial has generously donated a toolkit to the annual Baw Baw Big Blokes Barbeque event.

The toolkit has been the first prize in the raffle at the Blokes Barbeque which supports men's health, including prostate cancer awareness and support, and a range of local initiatives.

This year's event was cancelled due to COVID however the community minded team at Ace Industrial insisted the tradition must continue.

They recently ran a silent auction for a Kincrome 196 piece 15 drawer toolkit valued at $2399 with all proceeds going to the Blokes Barbeque.

The winning bidder was Leigh Marino of Warragul who was delighted with his new toolkit.

Leigh said “Anyone that knows me, knows that I'm not a handyman. But I always wanted to own a big toolkit. So when this awesome opportunity came up, I was stoked to think I could get my hands on this bad boy and support the Big Blokes Barbeque and help create some awareness around prostate cancer," said Leigh.

The decision to bid on the toolkit was personal for Leigh. He said “when I was 16 years of age I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis - an inflammatory bowel disease that to this day has no cure. I battled with this disease for 18 years, until last year when I finally had my colon removed in an epic eleven-hour surgery. I've always been aware that every minute I spent with colitis dramatically increased my chances of developing prostate and bowel cancer. So being involved in this auction and doing my part to help out and create awareness was a no brainer. So lads, remember to get the check," said Leigh.

Ace Industrial is a long-term patron sponsor of the Baw Baw Big Blokes Barbeque.
