Croquet returns
The Warragul Croquet Club was once again back out on the court as their twilight croquet got underway last night.
Throughout COVID-19, the club and its members have been adhering to all rules set, including temperature checks, regular cleaning, social distancing and observing number limits.
Recently as the restrictions eased, the club was able to play some social croquet once again, while also enjoying their new barbecue they won during the lockdown.
The new addition has excited club members who can now cook up a storm for guests and spectators.
With travel restrictions also easing, nonmembers have also come for a game, with a participant from Wangaratta enjoying Warragul’s home court while visiting family in the area. Members from Pakenham and Berwick have also rejoined the club after finally being able to cross the ‘ring of steel’.
The club has also received new competition jackets. Treasurer Mary Cornwall said the new merchandise was a fantastic addition.
“The jackets belong to the club and we are able to offer them to any member who plays tournaments and pennant now, they make the players look like they belong now,” she said.
Twilight croquet continues Monday night from 3pm, with a barbecue dinner to follow at 6pm. The weekly event is the perfect opportunity for new players to meet current members.
As always, COVID protocols will be followed as the club has done since the beginning of March, with hand sanitiser, temperature checks and no access to the club house during play.
