Catani 107 def by Garfield-Tynong 4/189

A brilliant batting performance has seen Garfield-Tynong defeat Catani away from home.

Winning the toss and batting, the likes of Matt Jones (34) and Steven Lewis (30) provided solid knocks, however it was Jason Skobla (95) who was the game-changer.

The opening batsmen using the short boundaries at Catani’s number two oval to his advantage, slamming six sixes before falling agonizingly short of his century, as he was dismissed late by Danny Brewster (2-48).

With 4-189 on the board, Catani needed something special with the bat- however, a top-order collapse stymied any momentum, as only Brewster (31) made a score of note as Catani were bundled out for 107. Gerald Shields (5-14) challenged Skobla for man-of-the-match honours, as the left-armer got the old ball talking to clean up and erase any doubt over the result, whilst Will Pickering (3-25) contributed as well.

Western Park 140 def by Neerim District 7/171 An all-around performance has seen Neerim District defeat Western Park on the weekend. Batting first on a quick Western Park outfield, Neerim took full advantage with the willow, as Drew Ainge (73) and Danny Sheehan (38) put on a match-winning 86-run partnership to set the Stags up for a big score after early wickets fell.

The pair hit eight boundaries between them, running hard to push Neerim to an imposing 7171 off their allotted overs, as only Sam Fennell (2-34) and Fletcher Kennedy (2-36) provided penetration for the Warriors.

In reply, a bevy of starts cost the home side, as the likes of Michael Rabl (33) and John Neilson (27) gave their slide a glimmer of hope, however, Heath Darcy (3-47), Sam Graziotin (2-14), Cam Law (2-21) and Carter Davis (2-23) all chipped in to ensure the visitors would take all six points. Yarragon 91 def by Ellinbank 3/92 Ladder-leaders Ellinbank continued their streak of dominance on the weekend, as another huge bowling performance helped them down Yarragon.

Winning the toss and sending Yarragon in, the Eagles were full of confidence and it showed, as Lucas Plozza (4-25), Jeremy Gray (2-9) and Timothee Mashado (2-19) ran riot for several hours.

The Panthers had very few contributors as they could only muster 91 before being dismissed in the final over, a score that proved to be at least 50 too few, as Ellinbank went on the attack with the willow.

Stuart Davis (31) and Sam Pratt (27) added 61 for the first-wicket in the chase and that was all she wrote, as Yarragon could only muster several late consolation wickets with Ellinbank winning again, this time by seven wickets with over 10 overs remaining.
