Works continue to repair road landslips
Baw Baw Shire Council’s landslip repairs on local roads are continuing to progress and are on-track for completion this month.
High rainfall in October triggered landslips along five roads, resulting in partial road closures and detours for residents.
The affected roads are Sunny Creek Road, Trafalgar South, Warragul-Leongatha Road, Seaview, YarragonLeongatha Road, Allambee, Ferndale-Strzelecki Road, Ferndale and Allambee Estate Road, Allambee.
Works to repair FerndaleStrzelecki Road in Ferndale were completed by late November, followed by Sunny
Creek Road in Trafalgar South that was asphalted and fully reopened yesterday.
Work is expected to begin from the second week of January along WarragulLeongatha Road, Allambee Estate Road and YarragonLeongatha Road, weather permitting.
The remaining roads will stay open during the works, although some delays and single lane operation can be expected.
Drivers are encouraged to approach the sites with caution and take note of any traffic control in place, especially on WarragulLeongatha Road near Grand Ridge Road where a single lane will operate under traffic signal control until midJanuary.
Council is continuing to carefully monitor each site and will keep the community informed as works progress.
For more information and updates see the road closures and changed conditions page on the council website.
Mayor Danny Goss thanked the residents for their patience and co-operation during the works, particularly those along the Earls Road and Yarragon South detour route.
“We’re pleased that the works are on track to finish early in the new year, ensuring that these important rural roads can reopen fully as soon as possible,” he said.
