Party in the park for Drouin
A free “party in the park” is being planned for Drouin on Tuesday, January 26 for Australia Day.
The party will get underway with a barbecue at 8am followed by musical entertainment for all ages, giveaways, demonstrations and a variety of stalls.
The celebration will conclude with a flag raising and a little formality at about 12noon.
With Drouin Rotary Club taking the lead, other service organisations and entertainers will participate in various ways.
As in previous years, everything will be free of charge. This follows funding provided by Baw Baw Shire Council, sponsorship from the Drouin and District Community Bank, and assistance from the Federal Government through the National Australia Day Council.
The barbecue won’t be just a sausage sizzle, with extras such as egg and bacon sandwiches thrown in. Drouin CWA will serve slices and hot and cold drinks.
Service of food will continue during the morning.
Drouin-Warragul and District Apex and Drouin Lions will handle giveaways for children, and there will be a demonstration by local fire brigades and exhibition of veteran and vintage cars.
During the event, entertainment will be provided for all age groups. A feature of the morning will be performances by the Drouin Secondary College Band and Alan Tatlow’s Lillico Road Band.
Following on from the successful Drouin Expo 12 months ago, several local organisations will be mounting stalls to showcase the services and entertainment they provide in the community.
